What are Cinnamon Tortilla Chips Made Of?

The basic ingredients for cinnamon chips are:

  • Flour Tortillas
  • Butter
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar

You can always get a little experimental and add a few more seasoning to spice it up, or change the types of sugar you use. For example, you could add a dash of pumpkin spice to pair up with your pumpkin spice latte.

What Type of Tortillas Should I Use?

For this recipe, I use flour tortillas, because it has a neutral flavor. You want the cinnamon and sugar to be the star of the show, instead of the corny flavor of corn tortillas.

How to Make Cinnamon Chips

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350ºF

Step 2: Mix cinnamon, castor sugar, and brown sugar.

Step 3: Brush melted salted butter onto the flour tortillas and sprinkle with cinnamon mixture on both sides.

Step 4: Cut tortillas in half 2-4 times until you get the size of wedge you prefer.

Step 5: Lay tortilla wedges on a baking sheet in a single layer, making sure they don’t overlap. Bake for 10-12. Until the sugar starts to bubble.

Step 6: Rest on the baking sheet for a couple of minutes. They’ll get crispier as they cool down.

What Dip Goes Well with Cinnamon Tortilla Chips?

My favorite dip to go with these cinnamon tortilla chips is this Apple Pie Dip with Cinnamon and Ginger

It’s a refreshing fruit dip with a little kick of ginger. That bit of spice pairs perfectly with the fall inducing aroma of cinnamon. Together, the warming cinnamon and ginger compliment the refreshingly sweet apple and tart lemon juice.

Now, dip the crispy cinnamon tortilla chips into this flavorful spread and… well, you need to experience that level of good for yourself.

  • 2 tablespoon salted butter, melted

Apple Pie Dip

  • 3 cups apples, small dice
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed

  • 2 tablespoon salted butter
  • 1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice, 1/2 a lemon
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

Cinnamon Tortilla Chips

  • Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
  • Mix brown sugar, white sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Brush melted butter onto both sides of tortillas.
  • Sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture on both sides of buttered tortillas.
  • Stack tortillas and cut into quarters. Lay them on a baking tray in a single layer, making sure slices don’t overlap.
  • Bake for 10-12, flipping halfway through, or until the sugar bubbles up and the color has browned.*

Apple Pie Dip

  • In a small saucepan add diced apples, brown sugar, water, butter, cinnamon, and ginger. Bring mixture up to a simmer and cook until apples soften, 10-15 minutes.*
  • In a small bowl mix cornstarch and water. When apples are tender add lemon juice cornstarch mixture.
  • Simmer until the sauce has thickened.
  • Remove from heat and serve in a bowl or allow it to completely cool and store in a container for 3-4 days.

Notes

* Time may vary a little as every oven is a little different. When the sugar starts to bubble and the tortilla gets a bit brown, it’s time to take it out of the oven.
